WHY STAY AT VILLA TAU?
Villa Tau, just north of Ubud, is a relaxed and spacious 4-bedroom, 4-bathroom colonial-style villa that sleeps 8 guests. It has been decorated with a combination of modern furniture and Balinese art and antiques that combine to give it a quintessentially Balinese feel - but with all the modern amenities that guests love.

Villa Tau has large open-plan living areas that flow seamlessly to the outdoors allowing you to enjoy the excellent weather that Bali offers year-round. We've also equipped the villa with a pool table, Smart TV and a dedicated coffee room complete with a Nespresso machine and a honesty bar fridge.

Villa Tau has a staff of four who are there to look after your every need - from cooking your complimentary breakfast, or other meals (we are not a self-catering villa), doing the housekeeping, managing the pool and garden and providing concierge services such as booking day trips and making restaurant reservations.

Villa Tau can be rented as a 3-bedroom villa sleeping 6 people, or a 4-bedroom villa sleeping up to 8 people.
VILLA SETTING
Villa Tau is situated in Kenderan, Tegallalang 6km north of Ubud - an approximate 15 minute drive from central Ubud.
With easy access from the road, Villa Tau is surrounded on three sides by beautiful rice fields. The iconic rice field photos of Bali are often shot in Tegallalang and Villa Tau's surroundings mimic this beauty.
The area is quiet and peaceful yet also close enough to Ubud and the sights that people come to the area to see.

WHO SHOULD STAY?
Although there is no obligation to eat at the villa, Villa Tau is catered. It is therefore ideal for guests who would rather come home to a prepared meal than have to shop for it, and cook it, themselves. Our staff of six is there to look after you throughout your stay.

Villa Tau is very well situated to the sights in Ubud and beyond, but is also ideal for those who just want to relax at the villa.
Villa Tau suits guests who want large, open spaces that allow for easy entertaining and relaxing. There are two bedrooms upstairs in the main house, a cottage in the middle of the garden and a beautiful large, traditional Joglo at the end of the garden.
This, combined with the large living areas, allows for family and friends to come together when they want but to also have privacy when they need it.
ACCOMMODATION
The villa has four bedrooms, all en-suite, sleeping up to 8 people, but we also rent it as a three-bedroom villa sleeping 6 people.
We offer a complimentary travelling cot for infants and toddlers (as well as a high chair). We also have two extra mattresses for children suitable for groups up to 10 guests where children form part of the group.

There is a large open-plan indoor living area with two lounges, an indoor dining area and a pool table. This flows seamlessly through big folding doors to the outside entertainment area at the swimming pool, which has additional comfortable couches, an undercover gazebo (bale benong) and outdoor dining to enjoy the beautiful weather. There is a large, flat garden where guest can sit and enjoy the sun or where kids can play.

Villa Tau is only ever rented to one group at a time.
OUTDOOR LIVING
Ubud is at a high enough altitude to enjoy beautiful warm days and cool evenings. To make the most of the weather, the villa offers outdoor dining for 8, an infinity pool, comfortable couches on the undercover patio, sun loungers in the garden and a Balinese bale (gazebo) with beautiful views of the surrounding rice fields. There are also patios and balconies off all of the bedrooms, all with comfortable seating.
INDOOR LIVING
The lounge has been designed with entertainment and relaxation in mind, with comfortable sofas, Balinese day beds and a pool table to keep everyone entertained.

There is also indoor dining for 8 people.
We have a large SMART TV, a music docking station and a dedicated area off the lounge with a Nespresso machine and an honesty bar showcase fridge.
So the choice is yours - stretch out, play some pool, relax with a book, watch TV or listen to music on the stereo system.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS
Enjoy your sleep with extra-length super king-size beds in all four bedrooms (the beds in the two upstairs bedrooms in the main villa can be converted into twin beds), with wonderfully comfortable mattresses, high-thread count cotton linen, fans, air conditioning, and mosquito nets in the cottage and Joglo.

The large Joglo suite, a traditional Javanese house at the bottom of the garden, has an undercover wrap-around patio with Balinese day beds to enjoy the gorgeous rice field views. The outdoor but undercover bathroom is set in a private enclosed garden with an outdoor shower and a bath.

THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA
Ubud is famous for its charm, and its reputation as the cultural heartland of Bali. It is also well known for its shopping, excellent restaurants, fantastic spas, spiritual practices and varied courses.
Villa Tau has easy access to many activities in and around the area. The villa staff will be happy to make suggestions, and arrangements, regarding yoga, meditation, cooking classes, spas, art classes, dance classes, sightseeing, bird walks, herb walks and anything else you can think of!
Climb Mount BaturBalinese Hindus consider Mount Batur volcano to be sacred. It is located 1717 m above sea level. You should begin the climb to the top in the very early hours of the morning to be able to experience the spectacular sunrises (our driver can collect you from the villa at 1.30am). It takes about 2-3 hours to ascend and the same time to descend, depending on which route you choose. A fair to good level of fitness is required and a guide is compulsory. | Learn to cook Balinese foodBecause Ubud is so well known for its food, it's not surprising that there are plenty of excellent cooking courses available. | Purify at Tirta Empul templeTirta Empul temple is a Hindu temple, built in 926 AD at a site where there was a large spring. It is famous for its holy water and this is where many Hindu Bali people go for purification. A short drive from the villa, Tirta Empul Temple is a very active temple and as such is an interesting place to observe Hindu devotees purifying themselves by means of ritual bathing. It is especially recommended to visit during a full moon. |

Visit Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave)Goa Gajah, a significant Hindu archaeological site, is a 15 minute drive from Villa Tau. It consists of a mysterious cave, relics, and ancient bathing pools set amid green rice paddies and a garden. Goa Gajah is colloquially known as the Elephant Cave because of its close proximity to the Elephant River. | Stroll the Sari OrganikThe Sari Organik is a beautiful walk just a few kilometres north of Ubud. Our driver can drop you at the top (it's easier walking downhill!) and you can stroll into central Ubud through the most beautiful rice paddy scenery. We like to walk it in the late afternoon, when the light is at its best for photos, and combine it with dinner in town before heading back to the villa. | Commune with the gods at BesakihBesakih temple is the most important temple in Bali and is well worth a visit. It is situated on the slopes of the volcano, Mt Agung, and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. The temple itself is very interesting. |
Release your inner foodieUbud has some of Asia's best restaurants, with quite a few restaurants having won major international awards. In addition there's really something for everyone - all budgets and cuisines are catered for. | Admire the herons of PetuluThe white herons of Petulu can be found a short drive from Villa Tau. Every evening at about 6pm thousands of these birds descend into the village of Petulu. The spectacle lasts about two hours. Legend has it that the birds arrived one evening in 1965 after the massacre of thousands of Indonesians and never left. The herons are said to be inhabited by the souls of the victims of the massacre. | Benefit from yoga in UbudUbud is the epicentre of yoga in Bali. There are plenty of excellent studios, including the world-famous Yoga Barn, that offer drop-in classes throughout the year. |
